This film screening and discussion presents an opportunity to get beyond the headlines about immigration into a deeply personal human story. Filmmaker Cady Voge’s All We Carry follows Magdiel, Mirna, and their young son Joshua as they flee narcotrafficker violence in Honduras, endure the dangerous journey through Mexico, claim asylum at the US border, and navigate detention before finding sanctuary through a West Seattle synagogue’s sponsorship. This remarkable film reveals the everyday moments of resilience, love, and hope, showing how one family’s search for safety becomes a story of community and the complex process of building a new life while carrying the weight of the past.

Director Cady Voge, an accomplished journalist who has covered migration throughout the Americas for the BBC, The Guardian, and Al Jazeera, brings professionalism and profound compassion to this feature directorial debut. Her character-driven approach allows audiences to see themselves within the refugee experience and witness the full humanity of those seeking asylum. Following the screening, Voge will lead a discussion about the filmmaking process, the family’s ongoing journey, and the broader immigration realities that continue to shape our communities.
