"My volunteer job has been extremely rewarding since I began as a Maltz Museum docent in 2008. As a retired educator, I continue to be a lifelong learner. The Maltz Museum is the perfect place for me to keep learning about history, today’s world, and all kinds of people. I get to continue my teaching too! I care about my fellow volunteers and the staff, and they care so much about me."

- Judith, Volunteer Docent

Volunteer Opportunities

Docents
Volunteer time to educate visitors about the objects and themes explored in our exhibition. We provide extensive training on Museum content, inclusive teaching strategies, and visitor-centered teaching pedagogy. The ideal candidate will be open to new educational programs, techniques, and have an interest in civil rights, immigration, and Jewish culture.

Interactive Biography Facilitators
The volunteer graciously welcomes guests to this event and hosts this program utilizing Artificial Intelligence to share the life story of Holocaust Survivor, Stanley Bernath and/or Rev. Dr. Otis Moss Jr.

Survivor Speakers

Outgoing individuals are needed in our Museum Store. Customer service or retail background is desirable. Volunteers are asked to assist on a weekly basis.

Admissions Desk Assistant
Volunteers set the tone to ensure a welcoming and positive experience for visitors and guests. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, selling admission tickets, answering phones, and orienting visitors.

Administrative Office Assistants
Provide clerical help to staff when needed including mailings, data entry, typing correspondence, photocopying, and other office support.

Stop the Hate Essay Readers
Play a critical role in the Stop the Hate Contest. With thousands of entries and $100,000 in scholarships and prizes to award, we need hundreds of passionate and considerate readers to ensure the best song lyrics and essays are recognized and rewarded. Register as a Stop the Hate Reader
