Artist’s Workshop: The Slow Art of Papercutting

Wednesday, July 23, 7:00-8:30 pm
In-person
$10 General Admission, $5 Maltz Museum Members

Join artist Jennifer (Jenny) Kaplan to experiment with the slow and meditative art of papercutting. Work from a template to cut and collage a beautiful piece of art that will be ready for framing. No experience is necessary. Just come with an open mind and a little bit of patience! Jenny works in a variety of mediums, including metal, clay, fiber, glass, acrylic, pencil, gouache, ink, and paper. Inspired by Hebrew letter forms, sacred texts, and the concept of “Hiddur Mitzvah,” which translates to the beautification of the commandments, she strives to create beauty and art from ancient traditions. She studied Art, Art History, and Jewish and Islamic Studies at Washington University in St. Louis and did graduate work in Ancient Near Eastern Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles.
