Rebel Readers is a monthly book club hosted by Dahlia Fisher and Felicia Haney, two women from different backgrounds with shared values. Together, they lift the voices of diverse authors to explore stories about individuals with intersecting identities. Join them each month for something new!

Author Aaliyah Bilal, a graduate of Oberlin College, has released a groundbreaking debut collection entitled TEMPLE FOLK which portrays the lived experiences of Black Muslims contemplating the convictions of their race, religion, economics, politics, and sexuality in America. The ten stories in the collection contribute to the bounty of diverse narratives about Black life by intimately sharing the experiences of a community that resists the mainstream culture that they are expected to accept and aspire to while functioning within the country in which they are born. Join The Rebel Readers at the Maltz Museum on Wednesday, December 6 at 7 pm to discuss how TEMPLE FOLK expresses compassion, nuance, and humor to remind us that while perfection is what many of us strive for, it’s the errors that make us human.
