Rebel Readers is a monthly book club hosted by Dahlia Fisher and Felicia Haney, two women from different backgrounds with shared values. Together, they lift the voices of diverse authors to explore stories about individuals with intersecting identities. Join them each month for something new!

Claire Jimenez’s highly anticipated debut novel, WHAT HAPPENED TO RUTHY RAMIREZ? follows the story of a Puerto Rican family in Staten Island who discover their long‑missing sister is potentially alive and cast on a reality TV show, and they set out to bring her home. Could it be Ruthy, after all this time? In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, both in October, join The Rebel Readers at the Maltz Museum on Wednesday, October 11 at 7 pm to discuss the story of this vivid family portrait, in all its shattered reality, exploring the familial bonds between women and cycles of generational violence, colonialism, race, and silence, replete with snark, resentment, tenderness, and, of course, love. Special guest Laura Cowan, survivor, activist, and advocate against domestic violence, joins the conversation for what promises to be a powerful book talk!
