Held at The Temple-Tifereth Israel (26000 Shaker Blvd, Beachwood)
In honor of Nancy Schwartz-Katz receiving the Ohio Arts Council’s Ohio Heritage Fellowship Award, the Maltz Museum will host a panel discussion on Jewish art and its role in the modern world. Judaica takes on many forms today, expressing Jewish identity and culture. The conversation will explore Judaica as it relates to folk art, such as papercutting, ritual art used in religious practice, and art created by Jewish artists. In addition, The Ohio Arts Council’s Executive Director, Donna S. Collins, will present the Ohio Heritage Fellowship Award to Ms. Schwartz-Katz; this lifetime achievement award recognizes traditional artists who demonstrate and reflect Ohio’s living cultural heritage. A dessert reception will follow the program.
Presented in partnership between the Maltz Museum and The Temple Museum of Jewish Art, Religion, and Culture at TheTemple-Tifereth Israel
