Maltz Films Presents: Panic in the Streets (1950) w/ Post-film Discussion, Wednesday, June 17th at 6:30 pm

June 17, 2026 - May 17, 2026

Runtime: 1h 36m w/ Ygal Kaufman | Ticket Prices: $15 for non-members | $5 for members

Produced by Sol Siegel, directed by Elia Kazan, written by Daniel Fuchs, starring Richard Widmark, Barbara Bel Geddes, Jack Palance, Paul Douglas and Zero Mostel. This unique thriller comes from the one and only Elia Kazan, legendary director of Gentleman’s Agreement (1947), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and On the Waterfront (1954). When a murder victim’s bullet riddled corpse also shows signs of infection with pneumonic plague, the usual rush to catch a killer takes on extra urgency as a race to stop a full-blown epidemic. This classic has great Jewish artists at every level of production, led by famous producer Sol Siegel. The script comes from Daniel Fuchs with uncredited support by Philip Yordan. The film also features music by the great Alfred Newman and Jewish screen legend, Zero Mostel in a supporting role. Presented with newsreels and a cartoon from 1950, plus a historical introduction by Ygal Kaufman and post-film talkback.
