Family Funday: Superhero Sunday Part 2, Sunday, August 9th from 11 am – 5 pm

What if you could fly, turn invisible, or shoot laser beams from your eyes and then draw the whole adventure? Drop in anytime for a superhero-packed day the whole family will love! From 11 am–12 pm, families and kids suit up with their own superhero name and power, then jump into lively improv scenes to defeat a dastardly villain and save the day. From 12–5 pm, grab a table and create your very own comic book with real comic book writers and illustrators on hand to help. Get ready to laugh, cringe, and question everything you thought you knew about the comics industry as veteran journalist and longtime Plain Dealer reporter Mike Sangiacomo takes audiences on a wildly entertaining tour through decades of the most bizarre, baffling, and gloriously misguided ideas ever put to the printed page. From Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's post-Superman disaster Funnyman, a slapstick crime-fighter who battled villains with squirting flowers and was exactly as bad as it sounds, to DC Comics' inexplicable obsessions with making their heroes fat and spanking, Mike brings the trained eye of a seasoned reporter and the enthusiasm of a lifelong comics fan to make the compelling case that sometimes the most revealing thing about an art form isn't its greatest triumphs, it's its most spectacular failures.
