America250-Ohio Concert, Thursday, June 25th at 7 pm
The Maltz Museum presents the America250-Ohio concert featuring the Akron Symphonic Winds, performed under the summer evening sky on the museum grounds. This celebratory program journeys through our nation’s rich cultural heritage with music from iconic American composers and artists, including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, John Williams, Richard Rodgers, and many more. Bring a lawn chair, sit back, relax, and enjoy this free evening of music as the Akron Symphonic Winds brings our community together in celebration! In the event of rain, the concert will be held inside the museum.

Maltz Films Presents: Panic in the Streets (1950) w/ Post-film Discussion, Wednesday, June 17th at 6:30 pm
Produced by Sol Siegel, directed by Elia Kazan, written by Daniel Fuchs, starring Richard Widmark, Barbara Bel Geddes, Jack Palance, Paul Douglas and Zero Mostel. This unique thriller comes from the one and only Elia Kazan, legendary director of Gentleman’s Agreement (1947), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and On the Waterfront (1954). When a murder victim’s bullet riddled corpse also shows signs of infection with pneumonic plague, the usual rush to catch a killer takes on extra urgency as a race to stop a full-blown epidemic. This classic has great Jewish artists at every level of production, led by famous producer Sol Siegel. The script comes from Daniel Fuchs with uncredited support by Philip Yordan. The film also features music by the great Alfred Newman and Jewish screen legend, Zero Mostel in a supporting role. Presented with newsreels and a cartoon from 1950, plus a historical introduction by Ygal Kaufman and post-film talkback.

Starring the Marx Brothers, Lillian Roth and Louis Sorin. The legendary comedy team of Jewish brothers from the stages of vaudeville, the great Marx Brothers, star in their second talkie, Animal Crackers. This madcap comedy masterpiece puts the zany brothers in a high society soiree where a painting goes missing, and hilarity ensues. The script for this classic comes from three great Jewish masters of cinema, George Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind and Bert Kalmar, based on the stage musical by great Jewish Broadway man, Harry Ruby and the whole production was led by the infamous Walter Wanger, a legendary Jewish figure in Hollywood production.
